OUR PEOPLE

Equanimity ArtsTM was founded by two practicing artists; one a specialised art educator, the other an art-based researcher and business operations professional.

Nicola Black and Madeline Fountain met while studying for their Master of Art Therapy degrees in 2021 and became united by a shared vision of a healthy, cohesive & flourishing community. Empowering people to affect positive change through creative practice and connection to others, Nic & Mads strive to deliver excellence in their proprietary programs and research.

OUR TEAM

An image of a happy, smiling art therapist with brown hair and brown eyes wearing a teal thshirt, paisley scarf and pattered cardigan.
Nicola is a registered Art Therapist and arts educator with a rich and diverse background in both teaching and therapeutic practice.

With decades of experience as a specialised visual arts teacher in Australia and abroad, Nicola has developed a deep understanding of how to apply the transformative potential of creative expression.
In 2022 Nicola completed a Master of Art Therapy with a focus on working in marginalised communities. Her academic journey has shaped a strong commitment to social justice, and she integrates a trauma-informed approach to her specialised group art therapy practice.
In Nicola's work facilitating groups and online art therapy, she masterfully holds participants at the intersection where expression and shared experience can spark meaningful change, cohesion and improved well-being.
Nicola develops EqA's evidence-based programs and brings a clinical standard of practice to their delivery.
